JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest

Deadline:  January 17, 2020

Amount:  $10,000

Eligibility Requirements:  Open to all US high school students in grades 9-12.

Essays must be a minimum of 700 words but no more than 1,000 words. Must include 5 listed sources. Essay must describe an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917. Can be someone who has served at the local, state or national level. Certain individuals may NOT be chosen for your essay. See the online eligibility & requirements section for more info.

Duke Summer Academy

Deadline:  April 15, 2020

Duke Summer Academy is a three week certificate program that allows students in grades 9-12 to explore academic topics, improve their communication, presentation & self-awareness skills while experiencing a college atmosphere during the summer. Different classes are offered each term. Classes are listed here.

  • Term 1:  June 14 – July 3, 2020
  • Term 2:  July 12 – July 31, 2020

Eligibility Requirements:  Must currently be enrolled in grades 9-12.  Program is looking for students with strong character, a commitment to service, and a history of academic excellence.
