Congratulations to the JHS Theatre Department on receiving an invitation to the 2016 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland! This is a huge honor for JHS Theatre, and one given to very few high school theatre departments in the country. The students were overcome with joy and pride when they found out at a special presentation given by head of the JHS Theatre Department, Patricia Miller and JHS Principal, Julie Straight.  The Fringe Festival is the largest arts festival in the world.  In 2014 alone, there were close to 50,000 performances shown in 299 venues over the course of 25 days.

JHS Theatre Department received the nomination based on the quality of shows produced within the past 5 years.  In addition to theatrical excellence, nominations are also based on special recognition and awards, technical ability, recommendations, and community involvement.

In 2014, “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” was chosen to perform at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska

This is the second time JHS Theatre has attended the prestigious Fringe Festival. The department traveled to Edinburgh in 2003, where they performed the musical-comedy Forever Plaid.  While the show selection has yet to be chosen for 2016, we are confident it will be a crowd-pleaser for audiences in Jeffersonville and Edinburgh!
